Blogging?

I’m convinced I know nothing about blogging, despite the apparent simplicity of the concept.

While I have many things to say, I have a philosophical objection to polluting the web with useless personal information, perspectives, and other "opinionware".  Sure, it seems there’s a useful function.  Sure, I’ve had a lot of experiences which others can benefit from.  Sure, I have a story to tell.

But, I’m just not convinced this is the way to do it yet.

After about 70 days, my blog has no traffic.  But, I ran across yet another interesting inspiration in Joe Kraus’s blog, and I’ve aded him to my Catalyst’s list.

If this is boring you, try his.

aded – added ANYWAY – you have to go after your traffic – visit people who blog the way you like to read – they’ll probably like what you write?! Write what’s important to you and do some random searches – like the recently updated – how I found your BLOG! It takes awhile – I just finished my TYPEPAD 30 trial and I’m starting to meet people who think in ways I understand or want to learn more about. I don’t know your political preferences – but you probably don’t like to be controlled by propaganda – this is an example of what you find while you travel!!

  2. Bnoopy is a great example – there are a lot of people with the vast holding of talent you’ve grown – I liked your Spider EYE site! I’m just a floater learning to build – working on writing, JAVA, CSS and of course HTML – - Maybe I’ll get good at something?!?! Your’s would be a site to look for learning ‘tid-bits’!

Blogging isn’t a waste of time, but I reserve it principally as an ad-hoc newsletter publishing mechanism to reach family and friends.
By flattening the self-publishing playing field, it means that the diamonds are drowning in the shit. Just because you have something worth saying, Gary, doesn’t mean the ROTW can find it. It is a tragedy of the commons, transposed to the electronic space.
